My foster writes: Lily is a shy, but sweet, adult female. She prefers to stay in her hiding boxes when people are around, but can be coaxed out for squeezeups or treats. She doesn't currently seek out petting, but doesn't mind sitting next to her human during snacktime. While generally calm, Lily has bouts of playfulness when no one is looking. She previously lived with many cats and is a recent mother. She has good litterbox habits, but is a high pee-er and should have a tall litterbox. Lily would be suited to an adopter with average cat experience and a calm household.Another foster writes:Lily may be a wallflower at first, but give her time and she'll surprise you with her big personality. From heartfelt "welcome home" meows to gentle head bumps in bed, she'll make every moment together feel special-once she knows you're her person. She loves lounging in sunny windows to watch the world go by and, once she's comfortable outside her hiding spot, she can't resist chasing a laser toy.But here's the thing-earning that trust takes time, patience, and consistency. When she first comes home, you might not see her at all. She'll pick a safe hiding spot and stay there, needing to be fed and watered inside it. Even once she trusts one person, she may still hide if someone she's unsure of is around. It took a full month in her foster home before she felt comfortable enough to be out and about regularly. She's a cat who knows exactly what she likes and isn't shy about letting you know when she's done-sometimes with a quick nip or swat. Fast movements, loud noises, or pushing her into anything she doesn't want will send her straight back to her safe place. She can get along with respectful cats, especially her foster brother, but she's happiest in a calm, adults-only home with at least one person willing to put in the work to win her over.If you're patient, gentle, and ready to let her set the pace, the day she chooses to greet you at the door will be one of the most rewarding moments you'll have. And when she finally hops into bed and curls up next to you-it's the sweetest feeling in the world.Lily is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. She is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she appears wary of human contact. It is difficult to predict if she will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home. Primary Color: Gray Weight: 7.8 Age: 1yrs 3mths 4wks
