My story

Meet Rocky,  a 17-lb, 1-year-old Shih Tzu  who is ready to find his forever home!   Background: Rocky came into rescue when his family could no longer care for him.    Breed:  Rocky and the other Shih Tzu’s available for adoption (Molly, Bella and Tyra) came from a home that bred Shih Tzus.   The owner died and the 4 dogs were taken into rescue.  We do believe these dogs are purebred Shih Tzus. Personality : Rocky is a typical Shih Tzu, sweet, loving and looking for attention.  He loves to play with and steal toys from his foster siblings.  Rocky is somewhat shy, but after a bark or two he will warm up and want attention. Rocky is houset trained to puppy pads and a dog door. He has not had any accidents in the house for two days.   HIs foster mom and foster siblings are helping him with leash walking.  We think he will be a pro in no time.      Health:   Rocky is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. Ideal Home:   Rocky is wonderful with all people and dogs of all sizes. He would thrive in a home with respectful children, as he absolutely loves attention and would enjoy playing with either human or dog siblings.      Rocky does use his crate to sleep during the day but prefers to sleep in a bed with his human.  As  a young dog, he would benefit greatly from someone who is home for most of the day.  Rocky has always lived with other dogs, and we believe he would do best in a home with another canine companion. However, if there are children or adults who are home most of the time to provide him with the attention and training he needs, Rocky could also be an only dog. Adoption Fee: Rocky's adoption fee of $450 helps offset the cost of medical expenses.
