My story

If you watch the video, you’ll see that Waylon is an affectionate, sweet pooch who has bonded with his foster mom. He readily shares his happiness and little dog kisses. However it took awhile for this bond to set so strongly. When Waylon first meets people he is suspicious of them and worried that their outreached hands mean they will hit him not pet him. We know he was abandoned and speculate that he was abused. So he’s probably better in a one person home where he can get the positive, one-on-one attention he needs. Waylon is an attractive, male, 28 pound Australian Cattle Dog who is about 3-4 years old. People he meets on his neighborhood walks frequently comment on what a beautiful dog he is. He arrived in foster care in poor health. He has responded to good medical care and now is on no medications and only needs a prescription dogfood to keep his chronic GI condition in check. His adoption fee can be waived to help cover this cost initially. Is Waylon housebroken? Well, sort of. He can sleep through the night with no problem at all as his last drink is an hour before his last walk of the night. But during the day he has to pee shortly after drinking water. So he is on a water/ pee schedule to manage this. One can only speculate that he was never house trained as a pup or perhaps never lived indoors. But now he is adapting to an indoor life and learning new behaviors. HIs ideal owner would be a person who is consistent and positive with him. Waylon is a smart dog who would benefit from formal dog training sessions with his new owner. This would encourage the bonding process between them and help him learn the behaviors that are expected of him. With this training and some patience and understanding, Waylon would give back to ‘his person’ unlimited affection and devotion. If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Waylon, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
