My story

Champion is an assumed pit terrier who has a huge heart, loving smile, and an unmatched excitement for life. This presumed 7 year old male, plays and behaves like a 3 year old. He is affectionate, energetic, and a self proclaimed lap dog. Champion is seeking to be part of a loving household that offers structure and daily exercise. He loves morning “walkies,” going for car rides, playing fetch, and is always ready for a new experience. He has been good with his two foster siblings, a great dane and black lab. He plays well with his energetic great dane foster brother, tugging on toys, and wrestling. Champion has a moderate energy level. On a typical day, after his morning walk, he sleeps 6-8 hours in his crate. He can be vocally upset initially when his pack leaves the room, but after 3-5 minutes he lays down and sleeps. He does not enjoy sleeping in his crate, as he does not like separated from everyone else. He loves to be with his people, his favorite places on earth are on the couch with his family, or standing in front of a freshly filled food bowl. He is highly food motivated, leading to quick success with training. He is smart, and when his attention is captured he aims to please. He has met our neighborhood children and children out on walks, displays no aggression and enjoys the attention. He does have a habit of jumping up, which is improving, but could knock a small child, or grandparent over. He walks well on the leash but will pull to sniff. He can be reactive to other dogs, especially those displaying aggression towards him, would be best walked with a secure harness as he is quick to jump backwards and pull out of a regular collar. Champion would make an excellent addition to a family looking for unconditional love, a buddy for the kids, and a sous chef that keeps the kitchen floor clean.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Champion, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
