My story

After five years with a family and a brief adoption in July, Meech found himself back at the shelter this week. Picked up by police and once again searching for stability. Through it all, he’s remained the sweet, snuggly, toy-loving boy he’s always been. Meech is a medium-energy pup who loves lap time just as much as playtime. He walks nicely on leash, appears house-trained, and knows how to “sit.” In the yard, he’ll chase toys with joy, run around with them, and then happily climb into your lap for affection. His favorite things? Snuggling under blankets, chewing on a good bone, and getting gentle rubs once he warms up. He’s lived with adults, teens, and other dogs and has been described as friendly, affectionate, and crate-trained. While he can be a bit nervous with new people at first, it doesn’t take long for him to seek out love and attention. Meech is looking for a home that’s ready to commit, someone who understands that pets are family, and who will be there for him for good this time. He’s done nothing wrong, just caught in the crosshairs of life changes, and he deserves a safe, loving place to land. If you’re ready to offer Meech the care, companionship, and consistency he needs, come meet this handsome heartbreaker at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm. Let’s make his next home his for always one. Dog was carrying a plush toy around and laying down with it. When her hand went towards his face while he had possession with the toy, he froze. I observed this three times. I coached her on reaching towards him while he has a resource and to trade for a treat. He dropped it once for a treat and then remained with it in his mouth after treats were offered, he ignored the treats. 06/28/2025 volunteer notes: Meech is in a crate. When I arrived at his crate, he was laying down. He had soft eyes and was looking up at me. I opened the crate door and he stood up. I was able to easily slip the lead over his head. Meech walks pretty well on leash. He mostly loose leash walks but pulls on occasion. Meech seems house trained as he went to the bathroom almost immediately. He had loose body language and a mid level tail. In the play yard, Meech started by sniffing. I called him over and started petting him. He allowed me to pet all over. His ears were back, he did some lip licking and had a low to mid level tail. He started to jump into my lap. He gave me some kisses. I picked up a toy, he jumped up For the toy. I threw a toy and he chased it. He took possession and ran around with it. He would drop the toy to pick up other toys. He did not show any interest in treats. He does know sit. Meech returned to his kennel with no issue. Gold due to size and play style.
