My story

Looking for a dog with the heart of a teddy bear and the body of a small horse? Meet Parker, a 110-pound Newfoundland mix who`s equal parts sweet, smart, and snuggly.Parker loves squeaky toys, belly rubs, and making new friends. At home, he`s laid-back and content lounging, entertaining himself with toys, or politely watching the world go by from the window-barking only when something really grabs his attention. Parker is fully house-trained and incredibly well-mannered. He does not like crates and would prefer a family who is not gone long hours every day, but he`s very well behaved when left to free roam while you are gone.On walks, Parker starts out strong and enthusiastic (especially if he sees a bunny or people he`s decided are his new best friends), but he settles into a nice rhythm after the first block or so. He`s not a chronic puller-just a big boy with big curiosity. With continued training, he`ll only improve. A fenced-in yard would be a great perk for Parker, as he enjoys having space to explore and play.Parker is currently on anxiety meds due to past separation anxiety as a puppy. As a young adult, he still shows some anxious pacing around the house, but he’s very well-behaved and may be able to wean off the inexpensive meds with the right companionship and routine. Parker enjoys meeting other dogs and may do well living with a medium or large companion with proper guidance. He`s friendly and gentle with children, though his size may make him better suited for homes with kids who won`t be easily knocked over.If you`re looking for a loyal, affectionate, incredibly well-mannered companion, Parker is the total package and is ready for a forever home to call his own! This is a Pay It Forward dog. This means the adoption donation of $600 will help to save another pup needing rescue and vetting. If you are interested in this dog, please complete an adoption application.Email: dogs@almosthomefoundation.orgAlmost Home Foundation`s adoption requirements:(1) Be at least 21 years of age;(2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household;(3) Have approval from the residence owner;(4) Have valid ID with current address;(5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home; and(6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash or checks for adoption fees; we do not accep
