My story

Apply to Adopt Me! This handsome little man is named Snowshoe (Snowy), and he wants to be your new best friend.  Snowy came to us as a stray so we don’t know his background.  His microchip was registered to a dead-end phone number with the name “Poochie.”  He does not respond to that name. He is estimated at about 13 years old, weighs 8 lbs. and he may be a Maltese mix.  Like many senior dogs, he has a mild heart murmur but he does not require medication. Snowy sees and hears very well. Snowy has stunning white fur and pink skin. Due to heavily matted fur, he had been shaved before he came to our rescue, so when his fur fully grows back, it will require regular grooming.    Snowy gets along great with his two smaller foster siblings. He loves going for walks on his leash although he does not walk far or fast and is more of a dawdler. He only has three teeth, but he loves his meals! He eats a combination of soft food and very tiny crunchy kibbles.   Snowy wants to be close to his people at all times. He follows his people around the house and is happiest when they are close. He has shown some separation anxiety when his people leave, and initially cries when left alone, but soon settles and naps until his people return.  During the day Snowy snoozes next to his foster mom’s desk while she works.  During the evening he likes to join his people on the sofa for TV time. He is not a climber so he needs to be lifted up to, and down from, the sofa.   At bedtime Snowy sleeps with his people. He will cry if he is excluded, so for this reason he needs a home where he will be allowed to sleep with his family. He settles down and sleeps soundly through the night but he often paces and digs around a little in his blanket before doing so.    He is house trained, but like many senior dogs, Snowy needs to go out every few hours. He will signal by going to the door or doggie gate, but if you miss his signal, he cannot wait very long.  When his people need to leave for errands, they confine Snowy in a small area with his favorite bed and a pee pad, and will use the pee pad if needed. Snowy would do best in a home where his people work from home or are retired and are able to spend a lot of time at home. Due to his small size, Snowy would not be a fit for a family with small children.  However a household with older, mature children might be okay.    We think Snowy will steal your heart the moment you meet him. If you live in the Central Florida/ Orlando area and believe you would be a perfect fit for Snowy, please complete an application and tell us more about your family.    June 26, 2025, 11:37 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Snowshoe, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
