Name: Mara (sister of Dona) Age: 9 months Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Mixed (Pug, Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher presumed) Color: Black & Brown Weight: 7.5kg Height (shoulder): 32cm Socialization – With People Mara is affectionate and friendly, approaching not only familiar people but also strangers to nuzzle and receive pets. She may be slightly shy in new environments, but her love for people and low guard make her easy to win over—especially with treats. She enjoys the company of both men and women and would likely do well with children under 13. Mara can be lifted comfortably with arms under her belly and will show her belly once she feels close to someone. Socialization – With Dogs Mara is outgoing and enjoys interacting with other dogs, whether they are familiar or not. She actively approaches new dogs to greet and play, and if she feels intimidated, she quickly submits by showing her belly. She especially close to her sister Dona—they play and wrestle together with ease—so she would likely adapt faster in a home with another dog. Mara tends to submit to larger dogs and gets along best with dogs of similar size. She avoids overly energetic dogs and currently relies more on Dona than people for comfort. With Cats She hasn’t met cats yet, but based on her temperament, she’s expected to do well. A cat test can be arranged. Energy Level Mara has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterwards. Leash Skills Still learning! Due to limited walking experience, she may pancake (lie flat) if something scares her during walks. Other Behaviors Mara shows no food aggression toward people or dogs. While she currently has no separation anxiety, she has always lived with her sister, so she may need a little time to adjust in a new home. She loves being held and petted, which will help her bond during the transition. She rides calmly in a kennel, though she’s still nervous about getting in the car and needs to be carried. She’s accustomed to using both indoor pee pads and going potty outdoors. Rescue Story Mara was rescued from a city shelter just before she was scheduled to be euthanized. Her docked tail suggests she was intentionally bred for sale, but likely abandoned when it became clear she was not a purebred.
