My story

While visiting a high kill county shelter so full dogs were in overflow crates, we spotted Howie and knew we had to come back if we found a foster. Thankfully when someone saw his precious face and short little legs, they offered to foster and The Foster Dog House officially expanded to the Raleigh, NC area (from Charlotte)! Howie is estimated to be 8-9 months old. He definitely is part basset hound with those short knobby legs and long body but given his narrow head we think he's part dachshund which would explain his smaller size. Add in some possible coonhound, you get a rather well rounded puppy all things considering. Howie is playful with large & small dogs, loves sleeping in his crate, is housebroken and walks well on a leash. You can tell he's a little unfamiliar with normal neighborhood sounds so he can be a bit barky to alert his people but each day he gets more comfortable. He also eagerly takes treats so older kids may be best. He is up to date on core vaccinations, kept on flea/tick/heartworm prevention, and has been microchipped. His neuter will be scheduled and paid for by the rescue. Howie’s adoption fee is $300 which includes his neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please go to our website and fill out an application. www.thefosterdoghouse.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Howie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
