Name: Alvie Age: 3.5 years Weight: 7lbs Gender: Female Breed: Domestic short hair Coat Length: Short Color: White Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Would do best as an only cat or if she could have a dedicated space all to herself when needed Child friendly: Yes Litter Box Trained: Yes Temperament: Aggressively loving, foolhardy, talkative Energy Level: Determined when there's attention or food to be had, relatively low-key otherwise Adoption Fee: $200+tax To adopt, go to: www.mendingspirits.org/apply-to-adopt.html Alvie has now been in my home for 2 months. She started out almost ravaged and always on the defensive. With time and her spay surgery, she has settled in. She now knows that food is always available to her and love is unconditional. Having come from what sounds like a hoarding situation, she has also learned that her litter boxes are always clean and ready for her and adaptable to her needs (she stands when she urinates instead of squatting, so a high sided litter box works great for her). Alvie cohabitates with my resident cats, but she has her own dedicated space for when she gets overwhelmed and loud and for when I leave the house. She has no qualms with the 2 senior Pomeranians whatsoever. Alvie loves toys, especially springs and plastic rings that she can bat around and pounce on. She also carries catnip mice around in her mouth calling to me to check out her daily catch. Alvie's favorite place is still perched in the window. She enjoys the cat heating pad as well from time to time while taking the world's most peaceful looking naps. When my other cats aren't around in the evening, she'll come lay with me on the couch, nestling into my neck and purring away. She thoroughly enjoys being brushed, which is super helpful since it cuts down on her incredible ability to shed. Alvie is one of the few cats that have arrived at my house purring and confident. Deep down, though, it was clear she needed time to decompress and truly feel safe and cared for. Now that she has acclimated I'm confident her next transition will go really smoothly. Alvie has been spayed, is up to date on her vaccines and preventives, and had a dental cleaning to address some dental disease. One of her pupils is permanently dilated which has been evaluated by the vet who didn't find any underlying concerns. She also seems to be hard of hearing which I think contributes to her apprehensiveness around other cats. Alvie would be a great companion for someone who wants to have a shadow follow them around the house. She would love to be the center of someone's universe for the first time having all the attention to herself. August 8, 2025, 10:22 pm
