My story

Have you ever heard the phrase, “To know a beagle is to love a beagle,” but realized you’ve never actually met one? Well, lucky you—here I am, the sweetest beagle around, and I just so happen to be looking for my forever home! My name is Laia, and I’m two years old. I absolutely love being around other dogs and would make a wonderful companion for any canine friends you already have. I’m okay with cats, too—though between you and me, they’re not quite as fun as dogs, but I won’t bother them. I’m looking for someone who understands my breed and is willing to be patient and gentle with me. I’ve had a tough start and carry some fear-based behaviors, so I’ll need your help learning that the world doesn’t have to be so scary. Loud noises and sudden movements are especially frightening for me, so I’d really prefer a calm, quiet home with soft voices and predictable routines. I’ll also need to stay leashed outdoors until I’m no longer a flight risk—so those joyful off-leash zoomies will have to wait just a little while. I may be timid at first. It will take time for me to believe that you’re truly here to love and protect me—but once I do, I will blossom. I can be incredibly snuggly and affectionate with the people I trust, and I have so much love to give. Just a little praise means the world to me, so don’t hold back on the compliments! I promise I’m worth the wait. The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family.
