I love it when we meet super good dogs! And River definitely fits the bill of being a very good doggo! He is cat friendly, dog friendly, and lovesss affection. He has the sweetest face ever and is such a good friend to spend time with! I definitely see this boy thriving in a family setting. He is the perfect pup for lounging on the couch with or playing catch in the yard! He has the best goofy personality and will make his future family so happy! We believe River is a pittie mix of some sort who is around 1 year old and weighs approximately 40 pounds. Due to him being a rescue, age and breed cannot be guaranteed. But that’s what makes rescue great! You get a surprise mixture of breeds wrapped up in a cute puppy package! Call it a Texas special! Check out River here: https://youtu.be/-ErTXFnignY River is a HUGE fan of affection and couldn’t stop leaning in for kisses from his foster! His foster raves about how loving and gentle he is. He also likes to play with the bigger dogs at his foster home! He has played with dogs up to 70 pounds and could romp around with them all day! While he was visiting us, he had such a good time running in the yard with some of our high energy pups! His favorite dog ever is his sweet senior foster sister, Chloe! They cuddle all the time at home and are always by each other’s side in the yard. River is definitely dog friendly and would do well in a home with another medium energy dog that likes to play but also likes to rest. Another amazing thing about River is how cat friendly he is! He met our housecat Biggie and just laid beside him on the carpet! When Biggie hopped on the desk chair, River just went up to him and started giving him kisses! How cute! We believe that River would do well in a home with a dog friendly cat that doesn’t mind the occasional puppy kisses. If there is a cat in the home, it would be best if there was another dog in the home as well to keep River’s attention occupied! He would thrive best in a home or an apartment! He has such a good temperament and would love to be enriched in either option of housing. If he is in an apartment, it would be best if he is with an owner that is experienced with leash training! Due to him being a puppy and still learning, potty breaks on leash will be something he will need to master. River is such a loverboy and enjoyed every single person he met during his visit with us! We didn’t get to see how he was around children. But due to his young vibrant personality and the way he interacts with the older humans, we believe he would make an excellent companion for littles. If there is a specific aged child you are interested in seeing River around, let us know and we will be happy to find out for you! We want to make sure he is perfect for your family! River has the best heart and is going to make his future family so happy! Does River sound like your boy? Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
