Available for Foster-to-Adopt! Meet Bunny, a 1-year-old, 29-pound terrier mix from New York who’s just as adorable and endearing as her name suggests. Currently thriving in her foster home in South Brooklyn, Bunny is settling in beautifully and beginning to show off her sweet, quirky personality. This smart, sensitive girl loves her carrot toy, snuggle sessions, and neighborhood walks. Her favorite way to show affection? Climbing right into your lap for pets and connection—it’s impossible not to fall for her charm. Bunny is an incredible dog with so much potential. She’s affectionate, intelligent, and highly responsive to positive reinforcement. But like many young dogs, she’s still learning “how to dog” and thrives best with calm consistency, predictable routines, and someone who can lovingly guide her as she builds confidence. She already knows cues like “sit” and “let’s go,” and is currently working on “leave it,” “touch,” and “place.” She’s house trained and making excellent progress with crate training—once inside with a long-lasting chew, she settles in nicely for a nap. While she can be hesitant to go in at first, she’s improving every day. Bunny walks well on leash and enjoys exploring new places, making her a great jogging or walking buddy. She continues to adjust to new environments with curiosity and a gentle spirit. That said, Bunny is also a very insecure dog who often feels conflicted about asking for affection or meeting new people. While she craves connection, she can also get overwhelmed—especially with unfamiliar faces or too much stimulation. She needs an adopter who will advocate for her, especially when strangers try to pet her in public or when hosting guests at home. She’s also a nervous nelly at the vet and is currently being muzzle trained to ensure her visits are safe and low-stress for everyone involved. This training is part of helping her feel more secure and empowered in new or stressful situations. Bunny is currently fostered with two other dogs and has done well with slow introductions. She first met them through the crate to calmly acclimate to their presence, followed by parallel walks to build trust. She was curious, respectful, and even tried to initiate play! While she’s still learning the ins and outs of dog-to-dog interaction, she enjoys the company of other dogs—especially calm, well-adjusted ones who let her engage at her own pace. On walks, she’s more confident when following the lead of another dog. Her ideal forever home will be moderately active and experienced with dogs who need structure, decompression time, and thoughtful socialization. Bunny would thrive as a solo dog or with a calm, confident canine companion. A home with older, dog-savvy children who can respect her boundaries and avoid sudden movements would also be a great fit. Whether she’s curled up with her Kong or hopping into your lap for reassurance, Bunny is a lovely blend of tenderness and playfulness—and she’s ready to hop straight into the heart of a patient, loving home that sees her for the beautiful, sensitive soul she is. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP,  leptospirosis, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
