My story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.DILL hails from the Northern community of North Spirit Lake and came south with his siblings Basil, Chive & Sage. He’s received his first vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy boy by his vet. The litter were found all alone with no mum so his breeds and the size he’ll grow to be is just an educated guess based on what he looks like. He’s an active little guy who loves to run around and play with his toys but will also chill out and watch TV with his foster mum and his favourite show seems to be the “Young and the Restless” and he’s really good at not passing judgement. He’s as smart as a whip and thriving really well in his foster home. He’s a clumsy puppy and when he comes running to you, his big thunder paws will make you laugh.  DILL is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will nap in it during the day too. House training is still a work in progress and he’s learning that outside is the place for his bathroom breaks. He’s just started to go on walks and he’s been a quick learner with his leash walking and he’s slowly learning to walk nicely on his leash. Walking can sometimes be a bit slow as he loves to pick up sticks and chew on them along the way. He loved to splash around in the paddling pool so we’re pretty sure he’s going to enjoy being around water and swimming. Due to being the super smart little guy that he is, he was very easily trained to have good manners and will sit for his meals and take his treats “gentle.”  DILL’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. He does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive, especially if it leads to an adventure for him. He’ll do well in a home with another dog as he’s fostered with one and he enjoys the interaction. He hasn’t met a cat but seeing as he’s just a puppy he should do well with one as long as there’s a slow and monitored introduction while he’s leashed for introductions. He should do well as an only pet in the home provided he’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving and gentle towards animals. He does require a fenced-in yard so be can be kept safe while he has a run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need his adopter to be in agreement to take him for puppy/obedience training to help him to become the best boy possible. His neuter is included in his adoption fee and bis adopter must be in agreement (as per the adoption contract) to have him neutered by the time he’s 9 months of age or 60lbs (whichever comes first.) The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the neuter requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of him (preferably in his cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week.  If DILL sounds like he’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet him.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 1, 2025, 12:12 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt DILL, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
