Tahoe came to us as a stray, and his owners never claimed him.Tahoe is a very energetic puppy who will need a patient adopter committed to working with him through this active phase. He apparently did not get any guidance as a young puppy about what is preferred behavior around people, so he`s still jumpy and mouthy, but we are working with him on that. Until he is better at polite greetings, and four-on-the-floor, he would not be a good fit for a home with children. He jumps and mouths quite a bit and particularly enjoys playing tug – it`s his favorite game and a great way for us to channel his energy and puppy behaviors using appropriate toys. He`s learned some basic cues with us, and is very capable of learning more. He walks well on leash with a harness, mostly keeping his nose to the ground to explore - no surprise with this handsome hound-boy! Tahoe interacts wonderfully with other dogs. His play style is typical of an inexperienced puppy – he does attempt to hump, but he responds well to corrections from his playmates. A home with another dog would be ideal for him. We do not know how he feels about cats.A 5-week Good Manners training course is included in Tahoe`s $350.00 adoption fee. Please call the Adoption Center at 802-476-3811, or email info@centralvermonthumane.org, to schedule a time to talk to an adoption counselor about him, and to determine if you should meet Tahoe.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tahoe, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
