My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Meet Amelie – Your New Favorite Shadow!   Amelie is a 2 year old Terrier mix with a petite 15-pound frame, a heart full of love, and the softest little head you’ll ever rest your hand on. She came to us shy and unsure of the world, but with a little patience and a lot of couch cuddles, she's blossomed into the ultimate companion dog.   In the mornings, Amelie greets you with a tail wag and a burst of zoomies before settling in for breakfast— though she'd honestly rather hang out and stare at you adoringly than eat right away. She hasn’t mastered walks just yet and is still unsure about a leash, but she’s happiest lounging by your side while you work, craft, game, or binge a show. Leave the room and she'll gently follow, always wanting to be near you— yes, even to the bathroom if you let her!   Amelie is a professional snuggler and will melt into you on the couch, placing her head gently on your arm, waiting for love. She sleeps through the night without a peep and respects her x-pen when left alone, usually napping sweetly on her bed.   She’s still cautious with new people and loud sounds, but once she trusts you, she’s your loyal shadow. She’s smart, responsive to gentle corrections, and a quiet soul at heart— barking only when startled. No chewing, digging, or destruction here.   She’s not the dog park type (other dogs can make her nervous and she does best with slow intros so she isn't overwhelmed), so she’s hoping for a calm home that will give her space and time to settle in. Playful in the morning and content the rest of the day, Amelie is equal parts heartwarming and hilarious (ask her about her dramatic mirror barks or her ice cube obsession).   Amelie is the kind of dog who just needs a little time and a lot of love— and in return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty, endless snuggles, and the sweetest company you could ever ask for.   Ready to meet your new best friend?July 1, 2025, 6:50 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Amelie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
