My story

Hi there! I’m Tonka, a 46-pound, 5-year-old sweetheart looking for my forever home! I’m a gentle soul with a calm, loving nature and so much affection to share. I can be a little shy at first—especially in new places or around men—but with some patience and kindness, I start to open up and show my sweet and cuddly side! I’ve got a pretty balanced energy level, too. Most of the time I’m super chill, but every now and then I get a burst of playfulness. I absolutely love napping, soaking up the sun, cuddling, and of course—treats! Right now, I’m working on my potty training and doing really well—only two accidents during my first couple of days. I’m almost a pro at crate training, too! I might whimper just a bit when you first leave, but I settle down quickly. I walk nicely on a leash and am learning not to pull. I’m naturally curious and love to explore my surroundings! Finally, I do need a little time and space to get comfortable in new situations, but once I feel safe, my personality really starts to shine. I think I’d do great in a calm home—older kids are best for me—and I’d love a mellow or playful dog sibling. I enjoy having someone around during the day, but I’m also perfectly fine spending time on my own. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s all about cozy cuddles and quiet moments, I might just be the perfect pup for you.
