My story

Gracey is a puppy mill rescue who is a survivor! This poor girl came to us totally terrified, wanting to growl and snap at people to make all the scary things go away. She has come such a long way in just a month in foster care and has relaxed a lot. She has a real zest for life and LOVES other dogs. She will need at least one confident, playful dog in her new home because a buddy helps her to enjoy life and face her fears. She loves toys, and is even a bit of a collector who will gather them all up into her bed or crate. She is fantastic at sharing them with other dogs and people. She loves to run and play and even gets the zoomies from time to time. She will need a secure physical fence. Gracey's love language is treats. She will come up and take them right from your hand without much hesitation. She even does well around older respectful kids, as long as they just let her live her life and not try to bother her. Gracey is most likely to run from things that scare her. However, when she is cornered and feels trapped, she has been known to growl and snap. The best way to avoid this is to give her space when she is in her crate and always allow her an escape route when out and about. She will come to people on her own terms to get a treat or boop your hand. Though she still isn't interested in being touched, we think that someday she will enjoy it, and maybe even ask for it. She will lay nearby and snooze when she is feeling comfortable around her people. She can be picked up by luring her in with her leash and isn't too bad at waking on a leash either. Gracey is doing well with house training, though she still has some accidents in the house and crate. She does pretty well in her crate, but prefers to be where the other dogs are. Gracey has so much potential and we just know her person is out there willing to give her the time and patience she needs to feel safe and loved. If you think you may be that person, you may apply for her at www.pawpatroldayton.com/adopt. Her adoption fee is $285 and she is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative. We believe she may be a Bichion/poodle mix and she's 10 pound and maybe 3 years old. All of our animals are vaccinated, micro-chipped and spayed/neutered before being adopted.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gracey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
