My story

Hi! My name is Maki and I am looking for a human or humans to spoil me and be my new best friends. I have lived with dogs in the past but I would much prefer to have my own space this time around and not share it with another canine friend, but I would possibly love some play dates with other dog friendly pups! I have lived with cats but when I first meet them they are just toooooo cute not to get so excited and chase them so for their comfortability I would like a slow introduction to any possible cat friends that way we are set up for success. I love to cuddle and be next to my human/s whenever I can be, I will be your little shadow and offer you all the snuggles and love you could ever need! I have lived with the little child humans ages 4 years and older and as long as they will give me attention, play with me, and run around with me I am sold! Please come meet the Maki so I can show you how much I already love yous! Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
