**$50 in pledges to any rescue that may pull!** Money ACCT-A-224835 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Money must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by SUNDAY, JULY 20TH at 10AM. Should Money’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Money’s favorite thing to do? Chomping at bees that are nowhere near him. Money is a sweet man with a heart full of love who’s been through a lot but is ready for a fresh start. He’s crate trained, mostly housebroken, and knows basic commands like “sit” and “quiet.” According to his previous owner, Money loves people, gets excited around both adults and kids, and would thrive in a home where he’s included as part of the family. He’s not a fan of cats, but has lived with a small dog in the past. He has done great in playgroup, even if another dog isn’t being nice to him. He can be humpy when overaroused, so a home without young children would be best. Money is estimated to be about 8 years old and potentially has arthritis. He also has some skin issues that could be caused by a flea allergy. These may both require followup at a veterinarian. With a little TLC, Money is sure to be a loyal and joyful pal for the right home. VIDEOS: Playgroup 7/13: Money, Jengo & Amaya: https://youtu.be/_i5VpK52pps Lexi, Money, Amaya: https://youtu.be/i7CBJqBsBFs Playgroup 7/5: Pattycake, Diesel, Money https://youtu.be/V6enzJwWJrU BEHAVIOR Per staff 7/15: Money is a tolerant and chill guy! My favorite thing about Money? The way he sits in the yard and tries to chomp bees that are flying by but doesn't get anywhere close. That doesn't stop him from trying! Per volunteer 7/13: Good day today, tried to hump 2nd handler once but redirected easily. Per staff 7/13, playgroup: Money was a great greeter in PG today. He was casually greeting dogs and snapping at bees in the yard. He even had another offensively aggressive dog try to latch onto his neck and still wanted to approach him and greet him afterwards. Per staff 7/13: Gets humpy when overly aroused. Per volunteer 7/13: When I approached his kennel he had a loose and wagging body, using his nose to try to push on the door as I opened it. Easily looped overhead. On the way out he pulled eagerly to get outside. Once we stopped he turned around and wrapped his legs around my leg, humping repeatedly. Needed a 2nd handler to help remove him. In the play yard he humped repeatedly if we were sitting on the bench or standing above him, but found kneeling at his level he would take pets without jumping. Took treats gently and very treat motivated. In the photoshoot he was loose with several new handlers in the yard and stood patiently for his photo. Easily clipped his leash and guided him back into the kennel. Per staff 7/12: Easy to walk, good boy. Per volunteer 7/11: Money was such a good boy today, seemed much more chill than when I had him out last weekend. He was easy to get out of the kennel, did all his business outside, took treats gently and even sat so nice for me. Also, he didn’t even try to mount me! Per staff 7/10: Kennel presentation: Standing with loose, wiggly body, soft eyes, and ears back at the front of the gate. Dipped his head and was easy to loop with the leash. He stepped out and immediately wrapped his front paws around my leg and began mounting. Using a lot of leash pressure I was able to remove him and we walked outside. Leash skills: He continuously attempted to mount me, and could not be redirected. I used a lot of leash pressure to keep him off of me and place him in an outdoor pen while I stayed on the outside. When he was in the pen, he stayed at the door and jumped on the gate, and flipped the latch with his nose to come out. He was looking at me with soft eyes and ears back and tail middle wagging and barking. Sociability: I called for a second handler, he was leashed and we took him on a walk. He made continuous efforts to mount me as the original handler, but also made attempts to mount the other handler. When I prompted some social contact, he took treats gently and responded to sit, and then immediately would attempt to mount. Return to kennel: He attempted to mount as we walked him back to his kennel, he hopped right in the kennel, and it was easy to remove the leashes. Per staff 7/10: Very easy to walk, so sweet. Per staff 7/9: Sweet boy. Per staff 7/8: Loves belly rubs, very nice. Per volunteer 7/6: Treat motivated leg hound! Per his surrender notes: Money’s original owner passed away and a family member was supposed to reclaim, but 2 years later, the person caring for him still had him. They had to surrender him due to moving. They noted he is “Friendly. energetic, lived with a smaller dog before. Doesn't like cats too much.” He is crate trained, mostly housetrained, and medium energy. When asked about behavior concerns, they noted “he gnaws himself when bored to the point he starts bleeding.” He knows the commands “sit” and “quiet”. He enjoys bones and pig ears. He is excited around strangers, children, and other dogs, but aggressive towards cats. They think his ideal home would be a family with kids and possibly another dog. MEDICAL NEW! Per an exam on 7/17: Flagged for worsening URI signs on dog walkthrough Assessment Complicated URI Concern for pneumonia Started on Enrofloxacin On 7/14, Money was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on medication. He tested negative for pneumovirus and is scheduled on doxycycline until 7/27. On 7/8, Money received a vet exam. His teeth were worn and stained and he had a moth eaten appearance on his trunk and limbs due to crusts and collarettes that worsen on the caudal half. There were no obvious fleas/flea dirt. He was stiff in the hind end with epaxial and hindlimb muscle wasting. He was described as a sweet and exuberant guy. An in house CBC/chem10 revealed: monocytes 1330/uL, basophils 200/uL, globulin 5.0 g/dl. He was diagnosed with chronic pyoderma/suspected flea allergy dermatitis, mild hyperglobulinemia, monocytosis, and basophilia, and possible hindlimb osteoarthritis. He was prescribed Douxo mousse and cefpoxidime for his skin and gabapentin for potential arthritic pain. On 6/6, Money was noted to have a large amount of small bowel diarrhea in kennel. He was prescribed metronidazole and fortiflora. During his intake exam on 7/4, Money weighed 54 pounds and was noted to be thin. His ears had some wax and his teeth were yellow with slight tartar. He had missing patches of fur on his hind end and a growth on his tail. - Due to being significantly overcapacity with dogs and cats and higher than usual intake, extensions are unlikely to be granted.
