Meet Maya!! Maya is a sweet, loving girl who has had a rough year. She was surrendered to the Arizona Humane Society as a hoarding case back in April. She was extremely emaciated with evidence of dog fight wounds. Her physical scars have now healed with the only evidence being on her face and front legs. While her external injuries have healed, her past has not defined her; she is affectionate and goofy. She is cautious when meeting new people (including kids) at first, but will quickly warm up. She is loyal and a quick learner. Maya could use some additional training, but is leash trained, knows sit, and can even catch treats! We currently go to a private trainer to learn basic manners, managing her reactivity, and crate training. Due to her reactivity to other dogs, she would do best as the one an only pet in the household, so she can be the queen, or someone who has time and patience to train her. If you are looking for a sweet, second chance kind of girl, Maya is the one!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maya, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
