You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.SAGE hails from the Northern community of North Spirit Lake and came south with her siblings (Dill, Basil and Chive) to find her forever family. She’s received her first and second sets of puppy vaccines, a microchip, dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. We have no information on her parents so can only guess what breeds she is by what she looks like. This fun loving, playful little lady just wants to have fun. She just came back from a cottage trip and her fosters said she was just so well behaved and a joy to be with. As much as she loves playing with her dog toys she also loves to snuggle and be with her humans. She loves to play with the many dog toys she has in her foster home and she has a Nyla bone to chew on to help with her teething. SAGE is crate trained and sleeps quietly in it at night and will also nap in it during the day too. House training is still a work in progress but she does know to go bathroom outside. She’s picked up really well on leash walking and gets excited when she knows she’s going on one. She does walk on a harness as that prevents pulling on her neck. She’s very smart has picked up on some basic commands very quickly like sitting for her meals and taking her treats “gentle.” SAGE’s ideal family would be an active one that loves to go on hikes and walks in the woods. She does well in a vehicle so will always be up for a drive and especially if it leads to an adventure for her. She has a big dog in her foster home and they get along really well so she should do well in a home with another one as long as her puppy energy isn’t too much for the dog. She hasn’t met a cat but if there’s one in the home that’s dog savvy then they should get along together. We always recommend a slow and monitored introduction to other animals in the home while the new dog is kept leashed. She should do well as an only pet in the home provided she’s not left alone for long periods of time. Children should be aged 6yrs and up plus be loving and gentle towards animals. She does require a fenced-in yard so she can be kept safe while she has a run around and play. Puppies are cute, playful and fun but also require a lot of time, patience and dedication to training. We do need her adopter to be in agreement to take her for puppy/obedience training to help her to become the best girl possible. Her spay is included in her adoption fee and her potential adopter must be in agreement to have het spayed by the time she’s 6 months of age. The surgery will be at the Barrie SPCA but you can use your own vet and we’ll reimburse you what we would’ve paid for it there. In order for the rescue to do so we need the spay requirements to still be followed plus a copy of the procedure invoice and a picture of her (preferably in a onsie or cone) in order to do the reimbursement. We do post the picture on our fb page along with other pets that were “fixed” in the same week. If SAGE sounds like she’ll suit your family and lifestyle then please submit an adoption application to meet her.
