My story

Meet Sassafras!Sassafras is a 1-year-old, 31-pound gentle soul looking for a calm and patient forever home where she can feel safe and understood. She’s on the shy side and takes her time warming up, but once she feels comfortable, her affectionate and sweet personality shines through.She’s not one to dive headfirst into new experiences, and busy environments can feel overwhelming for her. A quiet home with kids ages 13 and up who can respect her space will help Sassafras settle in and thrive. She may enjoy the company of another calm, respectful dog, given a slow and thoughtful introduction. We don’t know her history with cats, so any introductions should also be slow and supervised.Sassafras is still learning that the world doesn’t have to be so scary, and she needs a family willing to go at her pace.
