My story

Hi there! I’m Darby — your future best friend and snuggle enthusiast! 🐾I might not be the first to run up and say hi, but I promise — I’ve got a heart full of love just waiting for the right person to give it to. I’ve already figured out the important stuff like crate training and housebreaking (go me!), so I’m a pretty well-mannered girl. I do okay with other dogs, but I really need a slow and gentle introduction — it helps me feel safe. Once I know I can trust them, I can be a good friend. My foster family has two dogs who look like me that I like to play with and snuggle on the couch with.People are great… but I’ll be honest — men can make me a little nervous at first. I try really hard to be brave, and if you’re kind and patient with me, I warm up and become the most loyal, loving companion you could ask for. I really want to make my people proud.Treats are a delicious but I do love me a good bone to chew. I’m still practicing leash walking — it’s a work in progress, but I get better every day with encouragement and calm energy. Otherwise, I love running around the yard and sunbathing.More than anything, I just want a home where I can feel safe and loved. My foster mom says I’m such a sweet and thoughtful girl who’s trying her very best. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions.
