My story

Currently being fostered in Baltimore, MD Meet Maverick – The Gentle Soul with Model Looks Personality Maverick is a shy, sensitive soul who’s just beginning to discover the comforts of a loving home. When he first arrived, he was scared of just about everything - cars, doors, new people - but this gentle boy is full of affection once he feels safe. He’s already begun to follow his foster mom everywhere, seeking comfort and closeness, and his trust grows a little more each day. He may hide when approached, especially by someone new, but given patience and quiet encouragement, Maverick reveals himself to be sweet, loyal, and deeply loving. He’s not one to seek the spotlight, but he has a presence that will quietly steal your heart. Energy Level Maverick has a moderate energy level. He takes a while to settle, especially in unfamiliar environments, but once he’s comfortable, he enjoys exploring and playing gently with canine friends. He barked when left alone, even if he could see his foster through the gate - but once the household was quiet and calm, he settled peacefully by the bed. He would do best in a tranquil environment where he can relax into a predictable routine. Skills and Training - Crate Training – Still working on this; prefers not to be confined but is beginning to understand quiet time - House Training – In progress Leash Training – Still hesitant; will need continued gentle exposure and confidence building Bathing – Did great with his first bath and even returned to the tub later when feeling unsure Socialization – Accepts other dogs with proper, slow introductions and looks to them for cues Food Motivation – Limited interest in food so far, but responds well to hand feeding and gentle praise Companionship Maverick would do best in a calm, patient home with older children or adults who can give him space to settle in at his own pace. A gentle dog companion would be a great help, especially one who can show him the ropes without overwhelming him. A fenced yard would be ideal so he can explore safely as he builds his confidence. Love and Affection This guy is the real deal—once Maverick bonds with you, he’s all in. He follows his person like a quiet shadow, seeking connection and comfort. He’s gentle, endearing, and oh-so-snuggly when the world around him feels safe. His affection is soft and sincere—the kind that makes you feel lucky to be chosen. Looks to Love Maverick is a true head-turner with jet-black curls that would make any haircare influencer jealous. A standard poodle in form, he’s a statuesque 55 lbs with elegant lines, though he’s a bit underweight and will need to gain a few pounds. His runway model days may be over, but with a little TLC and the right diet, he’s going to be the canine version of a comeback story.
