Meet Riley 🐾 Rough Collie (Sable Merle) Age: 3 years old 📍Fostered in Virginia Beach Weight: Approx. 65 lbs Riley is a gentle, affectionate, and incredibly smart Rough Collie looking for his second chance at a forever home. 💚 Dog-Friendly: Yes! Riley must have a friendly dog companion in the home — he thrives with dog friends. 👧 Great with Kids: Sweet, patient, and gentle — a true family dog. 🏡 Fenced Yard Required: He loves being outdoors and needs a safe yard to explore and play. ✅ House Trained: Absolutely — he’s clean, polite, and easy to live with. 👫 Loves People: Riley bonds closely and loves being part of the family. 🧠 Super Smart: Quick to learn and easy to train — he’s a classic Collie with a sharp mind and a big heart. 🌟 Why He’s With Us: Riley came to rescue as a kind and well-loved owner surrender. His previous family faced serious medical issues in the home and made the difficult, selfless decision to let Riley go somewhere he could get the time, attention, and activity he deserves. He arrived healthy, happy, and ready for his next chapter. 🚫 Medical Note – MDR1 Positive: Riley is MDR1 positive and must avoid medications that cross the blood-brain barrier — including isoxazoline flea/tick preventatives (like NexGard, Bravecto, Simparica, etc.). He does great on natural flea preventatives and has no issues with Interceptor for heartworm prevention. He is currently healthy, happy, and thriving on a safe, Collie-approved routine. He has had reactions in the past, so he uses natural flea preventatives only. ✅ Great for Working Families: A morning walk and evening play or cuddle time works great for this well-balanced boy. 📍 Adoption Location: We’re open to adopters outside our local area — Riley is so easygoing and friendly, we’re happy to consider out-of-state homes. Adopters must come to Virginia to meet him. Adoption Package: Riley comes neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all Collie-safe vaccines.
