Weighing in at just over 18 pounds, this 1 to 2-year-old Schnauzer mix was rescued from a high-risk shelter in Metamora, Mexico — and she’s more than ready to trade that tough start for a life filled with love, safety, and squeaky toys. Topaz may be a little shy when she first arrives in a new space, but give her a moment to settle in, and you’ll see her sweet, loving personality begin to shine. She’s incredibly well-mannered, gets along nicely with other dogs, and pretty much ignores cats. Children are just fine by her, too — as long as they’re calm and respectful. This petite girl is happiest snuggled beside her person, soaking up affection, or curled up in a cozy dog bed with her favorite squeaky toy close by. Her energy level is moderate — she’ll enjoy some playtime, but she’s just as content lounging with you after a long day. Topaz is currently being treated for anaplasmosis, a tick-borne illness, and will come with her doxycycline medication. She’s spayed, heartworm negative, and ready to be someone’s loyal companion. She would thrive in nearly any type of home — whether it’s an apartment, a condo, or a house with a yard — as long as she’s loved and given a bit of patience to blossom.
