Mittens is naturally cautious around people, but never aggressive. Even with her foster mom’s 4-year-old granddaughter, she’s gentle; she won’t hiss or swat, even when startled. She’s more likely to scamper away when approached, but her playful and curious side still shines through. She’ll happily chase a wand toy or approach for Temptations treats sometimes, even from the granddaughter’s hand, just as long as petting isn’t expected quite yet. She’s made steady progress over time, gaining confidence and starting to understand that people aren’t so scary. From her favorite perch on the cat climber, she’ll lean forward to sniff her foster’s hand, and on rare but meaningful occasions, she’s allowed a few gentle pets. It’s clear that Mittens wants to connect; she’s just still figuring out how. Mittens does wonderfully with other cats and enjoys running, climbing, and playing with her feline friends. She’s had limited exposure to dogs but shows curiosity without fear. Her playful spirit shines during interactive play and bird-watching sessions by the window, where she loves to sit and observe the world. She also has a unique little feature: her tail is permanently folded in half and curled at the end—no one’s sure if she was born that way or healed from an old injury, but it only adds to her charm. Mittens is very food-motivated and perks right up for mealtime. She eagerly meets her foster at the door for her daily wet food and can hardly wait for her dish to be set down. She’s even begun taking treats directly from her foster’s hand, a small but exciting sign of trust. Mittens would do best in a calm, patient home that understands the value of quiet companionship and letting her progress at her own pace. With time, love, and a gentle approach, she’ll continue to grow into the affectionate companion she’s meant to be.
