My story

Hey there… I’m Anubis. And if you met me when I first came to LPR, you probably wouldn’t recognize me now. When I arrived, I was hurting—not just on the outside, but deep down. My skin was raw, my fur was patchy, and my spirit felt just as worn. I didn’t trust much. I wasn’t sure what love felt like… but something told me this place was different. And it is. The people here didn’t give up on me. They saw more than my rough past—they saw me. And little by little, I’ve started to believe in that version of myself too. My skin is healing. My coat is coming in shiny and handsome. And best of all? My heart is opening up. Now, I let them hold me. I lean in for love. I even play with my toys—my toys! It might sound small, but it means everything. It means I’m not broken anymore. I’m becoming whole. I’m still a work in progress, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come. And I know my person is out there—someone who sees the beauty in a dog who’s learning to trust again.
