Animal Profile: Ivy is an approximately 2 year old, 11 lb female, short haired Chihuahua that joined us from Stanislaus Modesto in California on 6/11/2025. Ivy was brought into the shelter after her sister passed due to heat stroke from being left outside. She has been a shelter volunteer and employee favorite -- they've said that she enjoys pets and being carried. Ivy has been sharing a kennel with another dog and they have been doing just fine. We will share more about Ivy as we get to know her in foster care. Foster Update: If you're looking for a super sweet, easygoing couch potato, Ivy may be your girl! She is an adorable, sweet and silly Chihuahua mix that brightens up any room. This charming girl is full of love and personality, making her the perfect addition to pretty much any family. She's still a little timid when meeting new people, but she's getting more and more confident every day. Ivy adores belly rubs more than anything! If you simply walk up to her, she flops down and rolls on her back, hoping for tummy scratches. Her hobbies include snuggling on the couch, taking naps, and learning new tricks for treats. We're working on "sit", but she hasn't grasped it quite yet. She is not as much of a lap dog as she is a sit-close-beside-you type. Ivy is incredibly well-behaved and both house trained and crate trained, making her transition to your home a piece of cake. Ivy is amazing on a leash and has not been dog reactive, although some dogs with higher energy make her nervous. This little lady is great with dogs and kids, including little kids saying hi to her on walks. We don't know about cats, but I can't imagine cats would be an issue. She is currently living in a condo in the city and is thriving, so we know she'll be adaptable in any home (including houses with yards, and apartments or condos without yards). Essentially, if your home includes a comfy couch and fluffy dog bed, she's happy! Ivy has attended a few local Seattle outings during her stay with her foster family. She's been to coffee shops, breweries and local pizza patios and is always so chill and well-mannered. She is also great on car and bus rides. Ivy is truly the portable pal you can take with you just about anywhere.
