My story

Meet Bane, a 1.5-year-old pit bull with a heart full of love and a goofy grin for everyone he meets. This sweet, social guy never met a stranger—he’s always ready to make a new friend, whether they walk on two legs or four. Bane has lived with kids, cats, and other dogs and done great with all of them. He’s house trained and generally very well-behaved, though he might have an accident if left alone for an unusually long stretch. Like a lot of young dogs, he does pull on leash and could use a little help learning some basic manners, but that’s about the only thing he’s working on. Bane does have some medical issues that we’re happy to talk through with serious adopters. Because of this, a vet reference is required to ensure he gets the care he needs. If you’re looking for a loving, friendly companion who’s already proven to be a great family dog, come meet Bane—you might just fall in love. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
