My story

At just six months old, this little girl has already experienced more heartbreak than most dogs will in a lifetime. She was part of an owner-surrendered litter, and while her siblings found homes of their own, she was left behind—unwanted, unheard, and unseen. She was born deaf. But instead of letting that hold her back, she’s been learning to understand the world through hand signals and touch. She’s incredibly smart and eager to please—she just needs someone willing to keep showing her the way. Sadly, her journey hasn’t been easy. She’s already been in five foster homes and two failed foster-to-adopt homes. Each time she left with hope. Each time, she came back confused and heartbroken. Because of the instability in her young life, she’s developed some OCD-type anxiety, which is now being managed with medication. She’s currently using an E-Collar Trainer device as a learning tool, and it's been helping her make real progress. Her forever family will need to continue with this training so she can truly thrive. Despite everything, she is an incredibly affectionate soul. She adores children, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and is learning how to coexist peacefully with cats. What she truly needs is a stable, loving home—preferably with another dog companion and a large space to run and just be a dog. She is fully vaccinated, spayed, and ready to start over—one last time—with someone who won’t give up on her. Please consider being her miracle. She’s been waiting far too long.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sydney, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
