Approximate Age: 2 years old Approximate Weight: 39 lbs Meet Hazel Hazel is a gentle, sweet soul who’s looking for a quiet, patient home where she can continue to blossom. ● Calm and affectionate once she feels safe ● Nervous in new situations and startled by loud noises ● Dog-friendly, but hasn’t shown interest in playing with other pups yet ● Still building confidence on leash walks ● Can clear a 5ft fence—needs supervision or a secure yard ● Great potential for a loyal companion with time and trust Hazel may be shy at first, but with a little love and understanding, she’ll reward you with her quiet devotion. She's ready for someone who can help her feel safe and loved. *I am Ehrlichia positive. Treatment is typically 28 days of doxycycline (an inexpensive antibiotic). With this disease, a dog may always test positive even if treated. The adopter is responsible for treatment, including cost. It’s always a good idea to plan to keep your dog on a joint supplement for life. Mixed mutt! ODHS does not breed label (unless there’s official paperwork), as studies show it is nearly impossible to tell the exact breed of each dog based off of their appearance. More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and 11 to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week.
