My story

How Chica arrived: Chica was brought in by a community member on June 21, 2025. Why Chica is the one for you:Meet Chica, a sweet pup with a heartbreaking story. This brave girl came into our care with chemical burns covering her face and paws, but thanks to our dedicated medical team, she's healing beautifully. She hasn't let her past change her outlook, and is embracing life to the fullest. Chica isn't your average pup-she's a whirlwind of enthusiasm with a zest for life that can sometimes get the best of her. She struggles with excitability, which can lead to jumping and leash biting. What she lacks in impulse control, she makes up for in smarts and eagerness to learn! She's looking for an experienced and active dog-savvy adopter who can help guide her through positive reinforcement training and provide the structure she craves. Chica needs a home without young children and isn't suited for a multi-child household. Before taking her home, we ask that the entire household meet with one of our trainers to ensure it's the right fit for everyone. With the right person by her side, Chica is sure to grow into a loyal, loving companion who'll never stop trying to make you proud. At SDHS:Chica has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed neutered.
