My story

VERA is a young brindle mixed breed beauty looking for a home of her own. She appears to be a Heinz 57 varieties-type mixed breed girl. We suspect she's part Australian Cattle dog, some beagle and heaven only knows what else. She came to the rescue with Ranger, a beagle mix we believe is her father. Vera was painfully shy when she arrived but she's blossoming in her foster home. Every morning she flies out the door and does Daytona 500-style zoomies in the wet grass. She skids out then gets back up and continues to fly around the yard. Vera has struck up a special relationship with her foster sister based on a mutual love of playing bitey face and tug-of-war. She's still on the timid side in new situations and when meeting new people and needs the companionship of a confident playful dog to help her navigate life. Vera needs a home with a physically-fenced yard suitable for high speed zoomies. Young Vera is around 1 year old and fully grown at 33 pounds. She's housebroken, crate trained, good with dogs and okay with dog-savvy cats although she may chase a cat that runs. If you'd like to meet Vera, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. You can meet Vera at our weekly adoption event, Saturday noon-2 at PetSmart Eastgate. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care. Our adoptable dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed and current on flea and tick and heartworm prevention. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 8, 2025, 4:07 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Vera 2025, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
