My story

Taylor is …well terrified, of everything. She also fancies herself as a mountain goat. Taylor is approximately two years young and a tall slender 12 1/2 pounds. Taylor came to us after being confiscated by Animal Control and surviving a house fire so she has a lot to be afraid of and probably has some PTSD. Taylor is the most fearful of the group but she does not not bite and she will let you pick her up after she rolls over belly up and tinkles a bit while her eyes pop out of her head , and then waits but does indeed let you pick her up after all that. She is great with other dogs, and cats. Well, mannered, older children only please I think she may be a bit, terrified with a toddler at this time however, I do think given some time, patience, and getting used to a new place she will be fine with kids as she is a very friendly girl. I just don’t think she’s ready for toddlers yet. Taylor does need a fenced in yard. She is a good climber and may try to get out of a 4 ft fence if it is chain link or has stuff stacked up that she can climb on and get out. Here she currently has a 6 foot fenced yard and she cannot get out of it. However, she definitely tried the first two days. If she is scared, she does try to be a bit of an escape artist, but once she knows she is home and she gets used to her people she will calm down and stop trying to get out. She can also climb most baby gates . I honestly would not put it past her to be able to get up on a table or kitchen counter 😂. What is hilarious about Taylor is she follows you Stop everywhere as long as you don’t look at her. She gets extremely close to you and wants to be near you all the time but if you look at her, she will run away. She is a funny and awkward girl with some baggage but she will be ok. Taylor needs a patient adopter, someone willing to work with her, socialize her, teach her how to walk on a leash and harness , teach her some confidence and most of all give her affection and lots of positive reinforcement. Taylor is not a feral dog. I pick her up all the time she’s just a very scared dog. I am really hoping she finds a family with a sense of humor as I think she’s quite silly and she makes me smile, but she is a bit of a weirdo so we are hoping to find a kindred spirit that would love to give her a home☺️🙃🙃 Approved adopters please send your hold requests to the email you were given. To got approved please visit our website www.texaschihuahuarescuecanada.org to fill in an application to adopt.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Taylor, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
