My story

Sweet, 1-year-old Silas was found on the side of the road in the rain, suffering from injuries consistent with being hit by a car. Despite this, his tail was still wagging and his soulful eyes showed he had a lot of love to give. One Love provided Silas with a neuter and the necessary amputation of his front left leg. He recovered quickly and in little over a week, he was running in the yard and even using some stairs. He is a marvel! Being just a puppy, he still sometimes overdoes it physically and can lose confidence on his 3 legs, but positive reinforcement and runner rugs help him get it back quickly. While the BB cruelly lodged in his side is evidence that humans have not always been kind to his loving creature, he is very much a docile people dog who loves belly rubs, pets, and snuggles. He has not had any accidents in the house since he recovered from his surgery. Even then, he used a training pad. He has done great with the two small dogs in his foster household and quickly became a pack member. He may think he`s a Yorkie now though -- if you have a small dog bed, he will try to fit and sit!Silas is approximately 40 lbs and would be a great family dog or companion to another active dog or two. If his story has moved you, we`d love to hear from you. He is truly a wonderful dog.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Silas, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
