My story

At 12 years old, Mick is the kind of cat who makes you feel calm just by being near him. With his soft buff-and-white coat, wise eyes, and soothing purr, this gentle senior is looking for a quiet, loving home to enjoy his golden years. Mick was originally adopted from BARCS in 2016, but through heartbreaking circumstances, he returned to our care after his previous owner passed away. Despite everything, he remains affectionate, resilient, and deeply loving, greeting gentle hands with soft purrs, leaning into head scritches, and offering face kisses and irresistible kitty snuggles.Mick enjoys lounging, eating, and being near people, and he also loves playing with his sparkly feathered fish toy. While he prefers gentle pets on his back or butt rather than being handled, he is otherwise very social and chatty, making his presence a comforting companion. He has hyperthyroidism, a manageable condition requiring twice-daily medication and regular vet check-ins, and he’s responding well to treatment while maintaining a good appetite and zest for affection. This tidy, litter-trained senior would thrive in a calm, caring home with someone who appreciates slow mornings, sunny windows, and quiet companionship. Mick is ready to leave the shelter behind and fill a loving home with warmth, purrs, kisses, and a heart full of devotion. To meet Mick, complete an application and email catfosters@barcs.org —he’s patiently waiting to become your gentle, lifelong companion.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mick, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
