My story

Rush is a deaf one year old neutered male in O’Neill, Nebraska. He is in Holt County Animal Shelter. He had been adopted from Animal Shelter of Northeast Nebraska. Those first owners crate trained Rush but returned him to the shelter because they worked 10+ hours and could not give him attention or training. The second adopters learned he is deaf and realized they didn’t have the skills needed to train him. However, the shelter suspects that the second owners didn’t follow directions for crate or leash training. Rush is a friendly, playful puppy and has a shelter dog friend he adores and pals around with. Staff have exposed Rush to dogs with different personalities and he manages to interact well with all. In his first home he lived with a yorkie. He has lived with children. He does need a foster who is committed to training him and helping him learn impulse control. He has a tail and behaves well with the vet. He is up to date on shots and takes heart worm prevention. Notes from evaluator: Rush Eval Rush was born June 2024 and he has a tail. Rush is very loving and energetic. He adores toys and attention from people. A high school student is working with Rush teaching him hand signals. Rush knows sit. Rush has lived in a house with two kids. He gets along with dogs and his best buddy in shelter play group is a Pomeranian. Greg says he needs a foster and or adopter who can provide consistent training, learn hand signals and he will do well because he is responsive to treats. During the evaluation two young high school students played ball with Rush. During play, Rush did bark once because he wanted the ball and their attention. Also during the evaluation, the lady cleaning kennels came into the room. Rush went up to her excitedly and once did hump her lower leg, but she redirected him.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rush, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
