My story

Casper’s journey hasn’t been easy. He first landed in isolation at the Humane Society while battling pneumonia, and after coming into our care, specialists diagnosed him with Brachycephalic Airway Syndrome—a condition that made every breath a challenge and left him vulnerable to aspiration pneumonia. But Casper is a fighter. After undergoing a successful airway surgery, he’s now breathing easier and finally able to enjoy life the way every dog deserves. But healing isn’t just physical—it’s emotional, too. Casper is currently enrolled in a professional Board and Train program with our partners at Paddock Paws, where he’s learning to build trust, confidence, and calm. Early on in his training, we discovered that Casper is hard of hearing—a revelation that helped us better understand his past anxieties and tailor his training to fit his world. With hand signals and lots of love, Casper is flourishing. Casper is extremely dog social and absolutely lights up around other pups. He’s goofy, affectionate, and full of personality—the kind of dog who will keep you laughing with his silly antics, then melt into your lap for snuggles. Casper will thrive in a stable, patient home that understands his needs and will celebrate him for the unique, resilient soul he is.
