My story

If you’ve ever dreamed of sharing your life with a Shetland pony disguised as a dog, meet Theodore. This 115-pound, 32-inch-at-the-shoulder Great Pyrenees mix is a gentle giant with impeccable manners and a heart as big as he is. At about 4 years old, Theodore has perfected the art of house living—completely house-trained and choosing to snooze right outside his foster parents' bedroom so he can keep watch like the devoted guardian he was born to be. Crates? Not an option. As his foster mom says, “there’s no crate this dog fits in!” While Theodore isn’t high energy, don’t let his relaxed vibe fool you. He lights up for daily walks, strutting along nicely on a leash and covering up to 3 miles like a pro. He enjoys spending time in the yard, where he can monitor all the important backyard happenings and make sure his people stay safe. As a true guardian breed, Theodore is an excellent four-legged alarm system—he takes his job seriously and isn’t shy about announcing visitors. Theodore is a social guy who gets along with everyone, from tiny 3-pound kittens who steal from his food bowl, to kids, other dogs, and even tortoises. He’s smart, loyal, and a little goofy, with solid skills like sit and shake in his repertoire. His foster mom describes him as the sweetest, happiest house-pony you’ll ever meet. If you’re looking for a loving, low-maintenance giant who will guard your heart as much as your home, Theodore might just be your perfect match. A fenced yard and a soft spot near your bed would suit him just fine. His minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
