Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 06/04/2025 Reason for being in rescue: Raleigh Puppy Mill bust Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Darcy is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. On 07/09/25 she had a dental with extractions. Darcy arrived in rescue with an eye infection that has been treated. Darcy arrived in rescue from poor conditions. She and all the dogs in the home have been proactively treated for mange. Our best guess is that Darcy is a poodle mix but she came from a puppy mill where there were also chihuahuas and pomeranians. We cannot guarantee that she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. Weight: 6.2 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? No, but a fence is a great safety feature. Darcy knows NOTHING about walking on a leash. What kind of home would be best for me? Darcy is looking for a home that can offer patience, love, and another calm, confident dog to help her learn the ropes. Not just “another dog would be nice” — no, she absolutely needs one. A canine mentor is how Darcy will begin to understand the world around her — someone to follow, snuggle, and watch as she slowly unravels the mystery of what it means to be loved. A calm home is a must — no birthday party chaos, sports practice stampedes, or constant commotion. Darcy isn’t ready for the fast lane. She’s still learning to find her feet in the slow, safe spaces. She will thrive in a peaceful environment where she can learn at her own pace and feel the world get smaller and kinder, day by day. What is my personality like? Meet Darcy – A Tiny Soul with a Tremendous Heart, Ready for Her First Real Chance. At just 6 pounds, the world is a very big place for Darcy. She’s a delicate little toy poodle with a past no dog should have to endure — a puppy mill survivor, born and raised in a place that saw her more as a product than a pet. She’s never known a loving home, a cozy bed, or the feeling of safety… until now. And while rescue was her first step toward freedom, her real journey begins with you. Everything will be new to her. Leashes, couches, doorways, grass, the sound of a coffee maker — all unfamiliar, all a little scary at first. She’ll need your help understanding how it all works, and she’ll need you to do it gently, quietly, and with a soft heart. She doesn't need grand gestures. She needs consistency, warmth, and a gentle hand. But beneath the fear, there is a spark. A beautiful, quiet spark of curiosity, hope, and love. Darcy doesn’t need a house full of toys or a million outings. She just needs a calm place to land, a dog friend to lean on, and a family that sees her not for what she’s been, but for who she’s becoming. Darcy has never had a true home before. You could be her first real love. How do I act when I first meet new people? Darcy is shy. If you give her the time, the guidance, and the space she needs — Darcy will give you her trust. And when she does - it’s pure magic. Other tips and tidbits: Darcy arrived in rescue as part of a puppy mill. We have no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition our veterinarian has aged her at 4 years old. We celebrate her birthday 06/05/2021. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. July 17, 2025, 7:17 am
