My story

Walter is a 1-year-old Jack Russell mix with a story far too familiar—passed from person to person, never given the time or trust he deserves. Now 18 pounds of potential, Walter is looking for his person—someone who won’t give up on him. He’s shy and scared of new people, and when overwhelmed, he may bite out of fear. But give him a little time and patience, and he’ll show you his real self: a sweet, devoted lap dog who just wants to be close to someone he can trust. Once you’re in his circle, you’re there for life—Walter is incredibly loyal to the people he knows. Walter has done well with other dogs at the shelter and may even thrive with a confident, larger canine companion to help him feel safe. Because of his fear-based reactivity, we recommend an adult-only, quiet home, and an experienced adopter who understands that love and security take time to build. Walter has been let down by humans before. Help us show him that the right person—the right home—won’t be just another stop, but a forever one. *Reminder* We are currently facilitating adoptions through appointment only.
