My story

Meet Bacon – the Brave, Snuggly Pup with a Love for Routine and Adventure! Bacon is a 10-week-old black Retriever mix being fostered in Texas alongside her brother, Kevin. These two have been thriving in foster care and are doing wonderfully with their routines and potty training. Bacon is already showing signs of being the braver of the pair, but don’t let that fool you—she’s still a total lap dog who adores snuggles and quiet cuddle time. Potty training is going great for such a young pup! Bacon is consistently peeing outside with scheduled breaks every 2 to 2.5 hours during the day. Accidents are now rare—just the occasional daytime poo mishap. At night, she sleeps in a crate together and bark for about 10 minutes before settling down and sleeping for around 6 hours. After breakfast and outdoor time, they’re happy to nap again for another few hours. It’s impressive how well they’ve adapted to a solid routine at such a young age! Bacon loves teething toys, tug-of-war games, and spending time in the kiddie pool—though her brother might be the true water bug of the duo. She’s curious but respectful around the eight adult dogs in the home (who all outweigh her by at least 20 pounds!), and she’s shown polite, submissive interest in both dogs and cats. Bacon is also curious about chickens and goats but has never shown aggression—just interest and calm observation. This sweet girl is learning leash basics (currently dragging a leash like a champ!) and enjoys car rides, whether in a crate or your lap—though she's likely going to outgrow lap status soon! 🥰 She’s treat motivated, which will be a huge plus for future training, and he already responds to her name or a whistle about 60-70% of the time.
