My story

Meet Dixie — A Gentle Soul with Giant Ears and an Even Bigger Heart Dixie is a petite, 10.1 pound, 7 year-old Rat Terrier mix with a calm spirit, a loyal heart, and the most charmingly oversized ears you’ve ever seen. Though she may be a little shy at first, once she warms up, she’s incredibly affectionate and happiest when snuggled up close to her people—preferably right in bed with them. She’s doing well with house training but prefers to keep her dainty paws dry. A fenced yard is a must—she won’t potty on walks or a tie-out. She’s great in her crate, playful in the yard, and enjoys toys and romping around with other dogs. She’s also kid-friendly, though due to her small size, she’ll need gentle handling from any little ones. Dixie is described as friendly, timid, adaptable, happy, quiet, and incredibly loyal. Her foster mom says: “Dixie is an amazing pup! She takes a little time to warm up and feel comfortable, but she LOVES her humans and needs to be close. She deserves the very best. We would add her to our family if we didn’t already have a full house!” Dixie is truly a treasure waiting to be discovered—ready to bloom in a patient, loving home where she can feel safe, snuggled, and adored. Her minimum adoption fee is $300 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
