My story

Please contact Dana (DanaCC4C@gmail.com), (925) 586-6408 for more information about this pet. Want to meet? [Fill out the Application], then email it to the contact in this bio. retired tomcat looking for a life of leisureMeet Smudge — A Retired Tomcat Ready for the Good Life (follow on Instagram at smudgethetuxedokitty) Smudge is looking for his forever home — a quiet, cozy spot where he can finally relax and enjoy the comforts he’s missed. Recently neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped (on Friday, July 4th), Ray Ray has come a long way. After a short recovery from an abscess in a small outdoor catio, he’s now in foster care where he’s adjusting to life indoors — and loving the space and safety. Estimated to be around 4–5 years old, he is a sweet, affectionate cat who clearly knew a home once. He loves being near people and will happily keep you company. He’s been alone for a while, so he is super happy to be inside with a loving foster family who plays with him, lets him snuggle in their lap and be relaxed and happy. Smudge’s story touched an entire neighborhood: he’d been surviving outdoors, quietly longing for a home of his own, while kind neighbors fed him. No one realized he was truly homeless until concerned folks started comparing notes on Nextdoor. One determined neighbor even launched a full campaign — flyers, Pawsboost, and a collar note — to find his people. Sadly, no one came forward. He’s doing well with other fixed, in/outdoor cats he’s met and would likely do fine with a slow, respectful introduction to other resident cats. He’s not a fighter — just a mellow guy looking for peace and a soft bed. Bonus points if you put the nature channel on for him-- he loves watching that in his foster home! Smudge currently weighs about 9.5 lbs and is a little on the lean side, but he’s already putting on healthy weight with regular meals. His coat is shedding its rough, outdoor past and growing in sleek and glossy — a perfect match for his emerging indoor lifestyle. If you’re looking for an affectionate, loyal companion who’s ready to leave street life behind, he could be the perfect addition to your home.
