Hi! My name is Bonnie and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I'm a 2 1/2 year old 'Double Merle' Australian Shepherd puppy who was born deaf and blind - the sad result of irresponsible breeding. I am otherwise healthy, very friendly, gentle, and ready to learn . There is a lot of information online about how to train dogs like me and there are proud owners and Double Merle dogs who can also provide you with advice and support. Deaf and blind dogs can be housetrained, taught manners and tricks, and can enjoy a full life of enrichment and adventure. I know I'm cute and probably very tempting, but please do some reading if you are interested in adopting me since I am special needs and will need a very special person ready to dedicate themselves (and months of training) to helping me become the best dog I can be. When I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adopters will receive a certificate for a free veterinary exam and our partners at Purina will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. Ready to adopt or want to hear more about me? Just email adopt@sbhumane.org! Staff are available seven days a week for adoptions by-appointment, and we offer walk-in cat and kitten adoptions Fridays-Sundays 12pm-4pm. Transfer of animals may be available between our Santa Maria and Santa Barbara Campuses. If an animal you would like to meet is at the campus further away from you, just let us know when you email, and we will be in touch with you if a transfer is available. Our adoption fees help support our community programs and the next animal who needs our help!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bonnie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
