He is a former breeder dog from North Carolina who was surrendered to rescue. Bandit will make a great addition to a family that is familiar with the behaviors of a breeder dog. He has spent most of his life in a breeder cage and is learning how to be a part of the family. He is very timid, shy, and cautious of human interaction, and he frightens easily but is not aggressive at all. He has made so much progress since coming into foster care. He has learned to enjoy the freedom of a big backyard and will approach his foster family on his terms. Bandit will thrive in a home that allows him time and space to overcome his fears and will learn to accept loving interactions from a family that loves him. If you are willing to put time and effort into this sweet boy, you will be rewarded with the love of a lifetime! Our must-haves for adorable Bandit include: A fenced yard Another young, small dog that is well socialized, so he can learn from them Someone with patience or breeder dog experience who understands it is going to take time A single-family home only Someone who could be home more than not If you meet all these requirements and want to adopt, please go to our website and apply online. Bandit is a handsome guy, so don’t wait! ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your 'new friend' get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other.
