My story

Meet Krypto!! He might look just like the AI pup from the new Superman film, but Krypto’s story is all heart and all real. This 5-year-old Westie mix survived the streets of Compton, where life was anything but kind. Bullied by other dogs and left behind like he didn’t matter, Krypto fought to stay alive until a kind neighbor stepped in and gave him a second chance. He spent a month in a foster home while his finder searched for a rescue to take him in. When he finally arrived at Shelter Hope, he was unsure and guarded. Who could blame him? But slowly, he’s starting to believe that the world isn’t all bad. Krypto is still learning that love can be safe. He can be a bit of a grump at times, and can be grouchy when meeting new people or dogs, but it’s all rooted in self-protection. Once he trusts you, he melts. He’s loyal, affectionate, and has a soft side reserved for those who earn it. He may not have superpowers, but he’s survived the impossible and is ready for his next chapter. Krypto is looking for a patient, loving home that will see past his tough-guy act and give him the security he’s never known. ------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. Please Keep in Mind: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt.
