Banjo is a striking pup with a calm presence and an independent streak. He’s often found taking in the world around him with soft eyes and a gentle pant. While he can be a bit jumpy at leash-up time, he’s easy to manage and settles quickly once out and about. On leash, Banjo pulls moderately and tends to keep his ears back and tail high, a sign he’s alert but still figuring things out. He’s more of a "quiet companion" than a social butterfly, preferring his own space over constant attention. Outside, he tolerates petting and handling without issue, though he doesn’t actively seek it out. He’s a polite treat-taker and knows how to sit like a gentleman. He also enjoys chasing toys and has no problem trading them back, another sign of his easygoing nature once he feels secure. While Banjo may take a little time to fully open up, his quiet confidence and calm demeanor make him a rewarding companion for someone who appreciates a dog that doesn’t need to be the center of attention. He’s ready to find a patient, understanding home where he can continue to build trust at his own pace - come meet Banjo at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm BEHAVIOR 07/24/2025 staff notes: Kennel presentation: Standing at the front of the kennel, Middle tail, gentle pant, ears back. Jumping for leashing. Leash skills: Pulled moderately, ears back, tail high. Sociability: Aloof and independent. High tail, ears back and panting when petting outside. Tolerant being touched all Over, did not solicit social contact. Knows sit and takes treats gently. Dog interaction: Met Wiggins thru the fence. High tail, pilo erection. Body oriented to the side. Ears back. Began to vocalize with barking at the end, and I used mild leash pressure to walk away. Play: Chased toys and picked them up, touched him on his back while he had one in his mouth. Dropped it after a few seconds. Return to kennel: Easy Color level: Blue 07/22/2025 staff notes: Walked by Banjos kennel he was pretty reactive. I stood in front of his kennel making baby talk and offering a treat but he was still very reactive jumping up growling while snapping. 07/20/2025 staff notes: He seemed very wary of me but was ok with the handler, he would tense up and give me whale eye when I'd get close. Took treats gently ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
